'When Brum goes calm, it means big things are soon to come'

A very quiet week, the Boards of Fame are crying out for some fresh paste activity; don't they look sad!
As Mr Tempo33 says though 'When Brum goes calm, it means big things are soon to come'.

Local mystery! Over the past few weeks, Chinese symbols have been appearing in Digbeth that appear to be painted with a brush not a can. Who is the Chinese tagger??

I've got myself up to 35 Sticky Missions points this week, here are my favourite efforts:
 3 - Do a 25 sticker combo

8 - Make a home-made stamp and use it to create 25 stickers
(My stamp was pieces of wool glued to card in a crown shape, made a really nice textured stamp)
9 - multi point task ---- stick 1 of your stickers on:
-- fire department property

16 - Make a piece of clothing with your character on and take a picture of you wearing it out in public

29 - Make a zine

38 - Make a potato stamp with your character or tag and use it on the street

I have plans in motion to have at least another 9 points by next post, the competition has been really good for giving me new ideas of how to rework my character and do slightly daring things and now I really want to win!

If you fancy watching a few of the local vandals doing their thing in a legal setting come down to Subside from about 8ish on Wednesday 10th August. PTP will be relocating down south the weekend after so come say farewell to one of the most active artists in the area, I'll be in the corner with a pint quietly weeping for the loss of Malcom the dog, duckies in various costumes and mushrooms.

A messy week of Vomit and Sticky Missions

(The content of this post isn't as gross as the title might suggest).

First up we have installations by Vomit on Digbeth's High Street; slick designs and great colours.

This week also saw the launch of the UK-only Sticky Missions run by Obit and Tags, it consists of 50 sticker-related tasks of varying difficulty and ballsiness and will be running for the next few weeks (deadline announced soon). Here are a couple of my favourite tasks:

I bought one of Obit's new Collective Sketchbooks zines this week and took it to explore some of Digbeth's finest sights:
It's great to have some of his brilliant drawings and he drew a Princess Vader in the front of it for me. You can buy one here but be quick because they'll no doubt sell out soon.

As well as making Sticky Missions stickers this week I did some knitting for 6TWO4 in return for the canvas and stickers he sent me, I'll be gluing it to some card and handing it over when he visits Birmingham to meet a load of the local vandals next month.

The Legends Return

I know it's Monday not Sunday but on Saturday night I was dancing wildly to Baby Got Back behind the bar in Digbeth's very own Rainbow Garden (here I am pointing at a ladder in my tights (photo by the excellent Jade Sukiya)):

So yesterday I resembled this:

Anyway, sorry for lateness, here's what's happened this week!

When I first arrived in Birmingham in September 2009 I could immediately tell who the big players in Birmingham Street Art were. Since then; As One has moved to Norwich and Tempo33, Newso, Philth, N4T4 and Lisk are getting big bucks for their work and collaborating with worldwide street art talent. Understandably these guys are less active on the streets these days. However, this week As One, Lisk and Newso did some fresh painting at Priory Square in the city centre and made me a very happy floozy.
As One "BREW or DIE"

Lisk "WALL BY WALL THIS CITY WILL BE OURS"

The same spot in Priory Square was also added to by some local artists/illustrators; G-Anders (Glenn Anderson) and S. Power (who I don't know!) did a nice bit of writing: (love many, trust few, paddle your own canoe).

And Craig Earp did a really interesting piece with amazing detail based on 'Organic Disturbances'.

Tempo33 finished a video of his paste work over the past year or so; proper awe-inspiring scale and positioning, especially the billboard work.

As usual, PTP has been busy with more brilliant ideas, this time taking the duckie dress-up even further.

I came back from my parent's house on Thursday to find parcels from Khoi, 6TWO4 and ZukerOne and some new pens, it was like Christmas!
Khoi t-shirts from the £6 lucky dip

6TWO4, ZukerOne and Khoi stickers to get up on the streets when I can be bothered.

All I've really done recently is decide what my woolly wormy tentacle things are attached to and work on some knitting ideas I'll reveal next week.
I'm planning to rework her with different textures and patterns in her hair, possibly on canvas.

Being treated like the princess I am.

I'm currently at my parent's house being cooked for without having to do any washing up until Wednesday/Thursday, so nobody is allowed to deface or remove anything new on the streets until at least Friday, thanks. Now I've said that, here's what's new this week.

PTP's been busy again with duckie dress-up, fresh shroom stickers and the return of Malcom (the dog).

Lisk has finally finished the video from his trip to London with Wah and Mew (3 months ago!), I must say it is very nicely done and there's some excellent footage in there so I guess it was worth the wait. Here's a link if you want to see it in it's natural habitat: Lisk, Wah and Mew in London on Youtube
