Halloween Treats

I'm not dead! I had to serve drinks to lots of people having fun at Halloween for three days straight and wimped out on my blogging duties... So! I apologise and to help you forgive me; here's some tasty arty goodies that will help you out of your sugar coma and won't give your teeth that weird furry layer.

On Thursday I went to a free screening of 'The Birds' (1963 Alfred Hitchcock) at St Pauls Church in the Jewellery Quarter. It was put on by Jameson's Cult Film Club so there were actors dressed up as characters from the film running about shouting at people and lots of stuffed birds everywhere and flying birds projected onto the ceiling and - of course - loads of free whisky. Me getting drunk in a church does have relevance to this blog; there was also a piece painted by TX from graffiti4hire for the event that people were having their picture taken next to after being given fake blood 'scratches'. Photos!

The plans to have a closing party for Lisk, Golden Boy and Miss150's exhibition at 6/8 Kafe with live art on the 19th November are more definite now that we've confirmed Lisk, Vomit, Curs and G87 to draw in the cafe's basement - which is bigger and less creepy than it sounds. I'm working on a poster and more details will come next week. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Last week I found some new stickers that I thought might be Energy, after a bit of research I'm pretty sure they are but I've not had confirmation from the man himself. I do know he's been out with his pens this week:

It's been far too long since I put up any knitted lamppost decorations so I've been working on a new design just in time for Halloween. Photos of them up on the streets next week.

Last week in Digbeth the Espirito Brum Brazilian festival happened! Music, workshops and art interventions took place over the 14th-18th and at some point around then Brazilian artist Renato Pontello did some painting with Tempo33, Newso, Ouch and Lisk.

This week (on the 27th, to be precise) this blog was mentioned on Digbeth is Good AND Created in Birmingham! The fame went straight to my head and I made a Facebook page for myself the blog. There's a box to your right where you can 'like' it if you want updates about Birmingham street arty things more often than once a week. I might even get round to giving away some stickers or bigger pieces by artists featured on here.

I've got myself up to 35 Sticky Missions points this week, here are my favourite efforts:

(My stamp was pieces of wool glued to card in a crown shape, made a really nice textured stamp)

 9 - multi point task ---- stick 1 of your stickers on:

 16 - Make a piece of clothing with your character on and take a picture of you wearing it out in public 

29 - Make a zine

38 - Make a potato stamp with your character or tag and use it on the street

I have plans in motion to have at least another 9 points by next post, the competition has been really good for giving me new ideas of how to rework my character and do slightly daring things and now I really want to win!

If you fancy watching a few of the local vandals doing their thing in a legal setting come down to Subside from about 8ish on Wednesday 10th August. PTP will be relocating down south the weekend after so come say farewell to one of the most active artists in the area, I'll be in the corner with a pint quietly weeping for the loss of Malcom the dog, duckies in various costumes and mushrooms.
